In recent years, the Bonaire Monument Foundation has held an annual  Monument Day, during which some of Bonaire’s historic buildings have been designated as official monuments.  Many of these historic buildings have been restored and now house governmental or private business entities or still private homes, but their structures provide an interesting glimpse into life on Bonaire in earlier centuries.  The eclectic mix of traditional and modern architecture in vibrant colors along with sailboats dotting the bay make for postcard-perfect pictures.The past really comes to life through the cultural encounters.  The tour will end at the Wilhelmina Plein & Cruise Market just 5 minutes walk from the ship.
